We have welcomed our final group of volunteers for the season and recommenced our Capture-Mark-Recapture (CMR) project. Several residents have been remeasured and assessed this week including Barb, Artemis &amp; Joey. This continual monitoring enables us to monitor the population\u2019s abundance and growth rates. Nearly marking the end of our successful hatching season across our beaches. Every nest we inventory adds to the long-term data collection on the health of Kefalonia\u2019s loggerhead population and nesting success. We are incredibly grateful to our volunteers for their hard work this season, helping protect turtles at every stage of life, from eggs and hatchlings to juveniles and adults.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><strong>Svoronata<\/strong> Field Station<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our last group at Svoronata has been a small but mighty group! With a storm coming in for their first week it meant for some unpredictable days of shifts however this was rewarded with a magical bird survey at St Theodore\u2019s Lighthouse where not only birds were observed but so much other wildlife as well as a beautiful double rainbow lighting up the sky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/wildlifesense.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026-10-25-Svoronata-Field-Station-2-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9953\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wildlifesense.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026-10-25-Svoronata-Field-Station-2-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/wildlifesense.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026-10-25-Svoronata-Field-Station-2-150x112.jpg 150w, https:\/\/wildlifesense.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026-10-25-Svoronata-Field-Station-2-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/wildlifesense.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026-10-25-Svoronata-Field-Station-2-767x575.jpg 767w, https:\/\/wildlifesense.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026-10-25-Svoronata-Field-Station-2-400x300.jpg 400w, https:\/\/wildlifesense.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026-10-25-Svoronata-Field-Station-2.jpg 1199w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In their second week, the sun was shining and we added a twist to our snorkel surveys \u2013 Paddleboard surveys! This meant volunteers got to try their hand at steering and collecting data on the paddleboards!
