My experience here at Svoronata has been more than fulfilling. I cannot thank the core team enough for your passion and leadership these past four weeks and your encouragement throughout. I have loved every moment here, including chilly, early morning surveys and late-night light pollution shifts. I even enjoyed long snorkel data entry in the afternoon, thanks to our energetic team.
I am so proud to say I was part of the conservation efforts here at Wildlife Sense. This program is so special and I will treasure my time here forever. Thank you all for making Baha-Ammes a place I would come back to again and again.

I have spent the last 2 weeks here and enjoyed every second. The balance between actively going out and finding the data yourself and inputting the data into programs and spreadsheets really makes you appreciate what you are doing here. I have made some amazing friends who I will keep in contact with all the time now and I am already looking forward to coming back.

My two weeks here in Skala with Wildlife Sense have been unforgettable. Not only have I gained incredible experience with a variety of marine conservation efforts, but I have also discovered so much about myself and the importance of taking a journey.

Arriving here, I instantly felt at home with the interns and other volunteers, all of whom made this experience so much more memorable. Even in such a short time, I’ve made lasting friendships that will surely stick with me. Discovering the culture and natural beauty of the Greek islands has been a highlight of this trip.

I could not have chosen a better program to be a part of while taking my first trip overseas. Thank you to everyone for this extraordinary experience.

Two weeks that have made me happy to be alive again. Before coming on this trip, I was struggling to find any joy in my life. I was stuck in my room, feeling more depressed than ever, almost waiting for each day to pass. Although apprehensive about two weeks of volunteering, I kept telling myself that the feeling of discomfort is essential to help me grow and that I just need to throw myself into it.

I can’t express to you how grateful I am that I did. Truly, I have had one of the most amazing times of my entire life. An experience I will never forget. Being around such an amazing group of people, all with different backgrounds has been so eye opening for me and makes me realise how big and beautiful the world is. My passion for life has returned and my smile has come back and that I will be forever thankful for.

It has been an absolute pleasure 🙂

I have absolutely loved the past 2 weeks. I have learnt so much about marine conservation and research which is vital for my course. It has made me fall in love with the ocean even more and exploring the beautiful Greek wildlife. I have also learnt so much about myself, it has been a life experience which I will treasure forever. I have made friends for life, and the interns and volunteers have really made the experience the best possible. I have thoroughly enjoyed the shifts when collecting data and analysing it, this means you really get to see what Wildlife Sense is doing for the local wildlife. I would recommend this to anyone, especially people interested in the marine environment. On days off I definitely recommend going to Argostoli and the cruises.
An amazing experience for young people wanting to learn about themselves and meet new people.

The past two weeks working with Wildlife Sense has been an incredible experience that I will treasure for the rest of my life. This is the first time I have travelled without friends or family but the other volunteers and the staff were so welcoming when we arrived that it immediately felt like home.

I arrived in Kefalonia with no experience in marine conservation or anything in a similar field but the past two weeks have been full of learning and taught me so much about the importance of protecting these ecosystems and the impact they have on the rest of the world.

Thank you Wildlife Sense for a truly unforgettable experience 🙂

I’ve been here for almost four weeks now and I can truly say that this was a very amazing and unique experience. I was able to learn so much about the nature but also about myself. It have been very emotional weeks for me. Firstly, leaving my friends and family behind for the first trip all by myself. Then getting to know new people and trying to be open for everything. And all of this by speaking a foreign language. But now I can tell, I’m so happy that I jumped over my shadow and was able to experience wonderful things and meeting lovely people.

On our days off we did great trips and activities such as exploring Ithaka, visiting famous caves or horseback riding through the amazing Kefalonian nature. A month full of adventures!

I also very enjoyed the surveys and learning more about the vegetation around Skala and in the Ionian sea. I hope that our work will make an impact and help to protect the plants and wildlife in Kefalonia.

I also want to mention the fun we had together in our free time by playing intense rounds of dobble, uno or dodelido. I would never want to miss these nights! (also our cocktails and dancing nights down in Skala)

Thanks to everyone who made this month so special for me. And a big thank you to Katiana and her huge patience!

Being a volunteer at Wildlife Sense has been one of the most beautiful experiences in my life. I am very grateful to have been part of such an ambitious project as the protection of the Posidonia and sand dunes on Cephalonia. This project has definitely enriched my knowledge of the environment.

The personal and cultural experience has had a huge impact on me. I met people from all over the world (pretty much), very human and with strong values. Each person marked me in their own way.

I leave with a head full of wonderful memories and proud to have contributed to the better knowledge of the island for its protection.
